Fantastic Fest and Austin School of Film fundraiser

First of all, it's coming up on Fantastic Fast time in Austin, September 24 - October 1. Fantastic Fest is "the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world." Most of the films are shown at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar. So I'll let you in on a little secret. As much as I love Austin music, and love to blog about and promote it, I'm hatching a plot to go into filmmaking. I already have a script written in my head. It has to do with body part sales and corporate greed. It will be completely fictional, with any resemblance of a person or event to one in reality, completely coincidental. I don't want to get sued by a former employer of mine.

I don't have a badge to this festival because I can't afford it right now. Maybe next year my film will be premiering at the festival. This year, I'll be attending two related events. The first, this Wednesday September 23, will be a fundraising party for Austin School of Film at Maggie Mae's on 6th Street, during which it is specifically advertised that I may get the chance to rub elbows with Hollywood bigwigs. The party will celebrate the premier of Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever. There will be live music, so be looking for photographs of the event on my Examiner.com site!

The second big thing I will be doing is attending the premier of Zombieland on Friday September 25 at the Paramount. Stars Woodie Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone, plus director Ruben Fleischer, will be there live in person!
